Title: Split Seat
Material: Tanned Leather
Description: The Split Seat is made of vegetable tanned leather, which gains a structural integrity when soaked in boiling water and dried. The stool is composed of three identical pieces that are sawn together after the hardening process. The rigidity of the leather exhibits an ideal balance between comfort and sturdiness. The cuts in the leather is to provide a certain amount of elasticity as well as to cut down material usage and to serve as a visual beauty. The combination of the traditional technique and the contemporary design approach opens up a new possibility for the material.
